How To Build A Website
This page will go over how to build your basic
HTML website. Just think of HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) as the building block of sites. It's
what's underneath the site and tells it what it will look like.
If you would like to learn more about HTML,
here is a good site to get started with.
This isn't needed, but it might answer any questions you have.
Ok, you can either use a free or paid software to
build your site. Obviously you are going to get better quality tools if you pay for them, but you can still
make a profitable website with free software. Here are a couple of good free site builders.
Nvu - "N
view" is what's called a WYSIWYG HTML editor. "What You See Is What You Get". This means you use
buttons, tools, and actions like in something like Microsoft Word to manipulate the HTML. This is a good
thing and speeds up the process.
Komposer -
Komposer is just about the same as Nvu. Both are free and good at being simple HTML
editors.
Now...here are some paid tools that you can use to
build websites.
Dreamweaver
- Dreamweaver is a hybrid WYSIWYG and very advance web editor. There are a lot of
different things you can do. Dreamweaver is what a majority of professional web designers use to build out
sites. It can be a bit complicated, but there are many free tutorials to walk you through what you need to
do. Here are other versions if you are in a different country. United Kingdom, France, Germany
XsitePro2
- XsitePro is what I used to make this website. I have used all of these and prefer
XsitePro over the rest. The others are good, but personally I like XsitePro the best. It comes with
tutorials, clip art, templates, and lots of tools that make it easy to build nice looking sites that are SEO
friendly.
Site Rubix - Site Rubix
is a web site builder that is available if you're a member of Wealthy Affiliates. It's a good tool to use,
but there are definitely better builders out there.
Planning - You need to know what you want your
site to be about and what you want it to look like before you start to build it. Google is going to be your
best resource because it's so vast and it's free.
A good tool you can use to speed up the process is
called Micro Niche Finder.
It basically takes information from Google and shows it to you faster than Google and also allows a lot of
different options to give you a really good idea about the probable success of your site. It does this by
showing you how much possible competition you might have. The reasoning being that the less competition the
better chance your site will be noticed more.
You will probably need some graphics and pictures
as well.
Here's a few places to get free graphics and
pictures.
Xheader
- Made by the same people that make XsitePro Xheader is a free resource to easily make and
design headers for your websites.
FreeStockPhotos.com
xsc.hu
FreeDigitalPhotos.net
Probably the most popular paid software for
creating graphics for your site would be Adobe
Photoshop. Photoshop is probably the world's most powerful image editing
software. It's used by professionals all over the world. You can get it here - USA, UK, France, Germany
Once you have a site planned out and whatever
graphic you want for your site you will need content to bring visitors. Content can be a lot of things
depending on how you monetize your site. You can have articles and make money with adsense. You can
sell your own product and just have content about that product. You can have content about somebody elses
product and make money by selling their product on your site. You can either write your own content or have
somebody else write it for you. Here are 2 good sites to find somebody to do it for you.
Elance.com
GetAFreelancer.com
